Set a place for everyone
Try a smaller dinner or a bigger gathering. Each preset scales your ingredient list.
6 servings · 1.5× the recipe.
The illustration accompanies the results below. Illustrations are schematic.
Scaled ingredient list
4 → 6 servings. Multiply quantities by 1.5×.
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
Salt to taste
No starting quantity; kept as written
1 line needs a manual check. Ranges, package sizes, and amounts such as “to taste” stay as written.
The scaler changes ingredient quantities, not cooking time, temperature, pan size, or instructions. Fractional eggs and large changes to a baking recipe need a deliberate adjustment.

Scale quantities by the serving ratio
The factor is new servings divided by original servings. Each clearly stated starting quantity is multiplied by that factor. Units and ingredient descriptions stay as entered. Lines with ranges, package sizes, or no numeric quantity are flagged for your review.
Worked example
Changing four servings to six uses a factor of 1.5. One cup becomes 1½ cups; two eggs become three eggs. “Salt to taste” stays as written.
Does this adjust cooking instructions?
It scales ingredient quantities only. Cooking time, heat, pan size, leavening behavior, and seasoning may need a separate adjustment, especially for baking or a large change in batch size.
