Best Food Processor: Cuisinart vs Breville (2026)
Compare Cuisinart Custom 14 and Breville Sous Chef 16 food processors by capacity, attachments, cleanup, and cost to decide which suits your kitchen.
Quick decision: compare the tools you will actually use
The Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BCNY is worth considering if its included slicing, shredding, and chopping tools cover your regular prep. The Breville Sous Chef 16 BFP810 is worth considering if you will use its adjustable slicing disc, mini bowl, and broader attachment set.
This is a research-based comparison of two named models. We have not conducted side-by-side kitchen tests or measured chopping, dough, or cleaning performance. Our recommendations reflect the published features and the routines they may suit.
Cuisinart Custom 14 versus Breville Sous Chef 16
| Feature | Cuisinart DFP-14BCNY | Breville BFP810 |
|---|---|---|
| Main bowl | 14 cups | 16 cups |
| Slicing approach | Included 4 mm slicing disc | Adjustable disc with 24 settings |
| Other listed tools | Medium shredding disc; chopping/mixing blade | Reversible shredder; dough blade; French-fry disc; mini blade and bowl |
| Decision point | Whether the included tools cover your work | Whether the additional tools justify their cost and storage |
Confirm the model number on the listing. Breville's support directory distinguishes the Sous Chef 16 BFP810 from the older Sous Chef 16 Pro BFP800 and the Peel & Dice BFP820. Names and included accessories are not interchangeable.
Cuisinart Custom 14: a narrower included tool set
Cuisinart's current DFP-14BCNY page lists a 720-watt motor, 14-cup bowl, chopping/mixing blade, standard slicing disc, and medium shredding disc. It lists dishwasher care for parts other than the motor base. The published warranty separates the motor coverage from the whole-unit coverage.
Our recommendation: consider this model if the included tools match the tasks you repeat most often. Check optional accessories separately instead of assuming that a dough blade or another slicing thickness comes in every box.

Breville Sous Chef 16: more attachment choices
Breville's BFP810 listing describes a 16-cup processor with an adjustable slicer, reversible shredding disc, dough blade, French-fry disc, and mini bowl and blade. It also describes a wide feed chute and a 1450-watt induction motor. The stated 30-year motor warranty should not be read as 30-year coverage for every part.
Our recommendation: consider the Breville if you can name the additional attachments you will use regularly. A longer accessories list is not automatically better value. Account for the machine and its accessory storage before choosing it.

Compare the complete purchase
Check the current prices for the exact models rather than relying on an old price range. Include any accessories you need, delivery charges, and the seller's return policy.
Then list three recurring tasks. For each one, identify the required attachment, the batch size, and the cleaning steps in the manual. That exercise is more useful than deciding from motor wattage alone. Bowl labels also do not remove the need to follow the manual's limits for a particular mixture.
Specifications cannot tell us which machine you will find quieter, easier to handle, or more consistent with your recipes. Those questions need actual use or clearly attributed independent test evidence.
